These book publishing FAQs cover the questions we hear most often. If yours is not here, ask us directly and we will answer within one business day.
Rights, royalties and ownership
Who owns my book after it is published?
You do. You keep the copyright, and the book is published under your name or pen name. We do not take any rights, now or in the future.
Do you take a percentage of my royalties?
No. Royalties are paid directly to you by each retailer or distributor. Our fee is the price in your quote, and nothing more.
Who owns the ISBN?
We recommend that you buy your own ISBNs so you are listed as the publisher. We can guide you through the purchase. If you use a free platform ISBN instead, we explain the trade-offs first.
Will I get the final files?
Yes. At the end of your project you receive the final manuscript, cover files, print and eBook interiors, and any audio files, at no extra charge.
Do you need my Amazon password?
No. We never ask for passwords. We work through account invites and team access, which you can remove at any time.
Writing and editing
How does ghostwriting work?
Your writer interviews you, reads your notes and builds an outline with you. They then write the book chapter by chapter, and you review and request changes along the way. The finished book is published under your name.
Will the book sound like me?
That is the goal. Writers study your recordings, emails and any existing writing to match your voice, and early chapters are revised until the tone feels right to you.
What kind of editing does my manuscript need?
Developmental editing looks at story and structure, line and copy editing improve sentences and consistency, and proofreading catches the final errors. We read a sample and recommend only the levels your book needs.
Is my manuscript kept confidential?
Yes. Your work is shared only with the people working on your book, and we are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you send it.
Publishing and distribution
Should I publish only on Amazon or go wide?
It depends on your genre and goals. Amazon-only lets you join programs such as Kindle Unlimited, while going wide reaches other retailers, libraries and bookstores. We explain both and help you choose.
Can my book be sold in bookstores?
Yes. Through print distributors such as IngramSpark, your paperback and hardcover can be ordered by bookstores and libraries worldwide.
Can you publish an audiobook?
Yes. We can arrange narration, production and distribution to Audible and other audiobook retailers.
Do I need a literary agent?
Only if you want a traditional publishing deal. If you do, we can help with your query letter and book proposal. If you self-publish, you do not need an agent.
Cost, time and marketing
How much does it cost to publish a book?
It depends on your word count, genre, starting point and the services you choose. Request a free quote and we will send an itemised, fixed price.
How long does it take?
Publishing a final manuscript usually takes four to eight weeks. Editing and ghostwriting add time based on length. Your quote includes a full timeline.
Will you market my book?
Marketing is available on its own or as part of a package. It can include Amazon optimization, social media, press releases, book trailers and an author website.
Can you guarantee sales or bestseller status?
No honest company can. We guarantee the quality of our work and a clear plan to reach readers, and we will tell you plainly what results are realistic for your genre.
