Google Play Books is Google’s eBook and audiobook store, built into Android phones and tablets and available on the web and on iOS. Our Google Play Books publishing services set up your Partner Center account, prepare your files, set pricing for each country and publish your book, in an account that stays in your name.
Because the store is built into the Google ecosystem, it can reach readers in many countries, including markets where other stores are weak. It also has quirks, such as country-by-country pricing and limited direct access in some places. This service is part of our book distribution services.
What our Google Play Books service includes
- Partner Center setup. Help opening or reviewing your Google Play Books Partner Center account, payment profile and sales territories.
- eBook file preparation. A clean EPUB or PDF that meets Google’s file and cover requirements, with a working table of contents.
- Country pricing. A price plan for your key countries, so readers in different markets see a fair local price.
- Audiobook options. Guidance on uploading a human-narrated audiobook and on the auto-narration option Google offers for eligible books.
- Preview and promotion settings. Sample length, previews and discounts set up to help readers try your book.
Who this service is for
- Authors who want to reach Android readers and international markets
- Authors who already publish on Amazon and want a wide strategy
- Authors with an audiobook who want another sales channel
- Authors in a country where direct Google access is limited and who need an aggregator route
How this service works
- Check your route. We confirm whether you can publish directly in your country or should use an aggregator.
- Prepare your files. We check or build your EPUB and cover, and write your listing details.
- Set prices and publish. We set country prices, sample settings and any audiobook options, then publish.
- Review and track. We check how the book appears on Google Play and show you where to find your reports.
What is Google Play Books Partner Center?
Partner Center is the dashboard where authors and publishers manage books on Google Play Books. You create a record for each title, add details, upload files, set prices and territories and publish. It handles both eBooks and audiobooks. Direct access is not open to everyone in every country, so some authors reach Google Play through an aggregator instead. We check your options first.
Can I publish on Google Play Books directly or do I need an aggregator?
Where Google offers direct access to self-publishers, you can publish yourself and keep full control of pricing and reports. If you live where direct access is limited, or you want one upload to reach many stores, an aggregator such as PublishDrive or Draft2Digital can deliver your book to Google Play. Aggregators take a share of sales and direct publishing does not, so we explain the trade-off before you choose.
How does country pricing work?
Google lets you set a list price for each country, and the sales page shows the price in the reader’s currency. That gives you room to price fairly in markets with lower incomes and to avoid awkward conversions in others. Your pricing also affects your royalty. We build a simple price grid for your main markets and revisit it after the first reports arrive.
What files and settings does Google Play Books need?
Google accepts EPUB and PDF for eBooks, with a cover image that meets its size rules. A book does not always need an ISBN, because Google can assign its own identifier, though many authors prefer to use their ISBN so that every store shows the same record. For audiobooks, Google accepts specified audio formats and a cover, plus optional supplementary material. We check each file against the current requirements and fix errors before you upload.
What about audiobooks and auto-narration?
Google Play Books supports human-narrated audiobooks uploaded in the right format, and it has offered an auto-narration tool that turns eligible eBooks into audiobooks with a synthesised voice. Auto-narration can be a low-cost way to test audio, but it is not the same as professional human narration, and the listing labels it as synthesised. We help you decide which route suits your book, and we can plan a human recording through our audiobook publishing services.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
Setup usually takes a few days once your files are final, and Google’s review adds time. We do not publish a price list. Every project receives a free quote with a fixed price in writing before work starts, so you know the full cost before you decide.
How do I help readers find my book on Google Play Books?
Google Play Books is also a search engine, so a clear title, a strong description and the right categories matter. We write the listing for readers first and for search second, add keywords naturally and choose a preview that ends on a hook. You can also share the direct store link in your newsletter and on your website, so buyers go straight to the page. We show you how to read the sales report so you can see which countries respond.
Questions about google play books consultancy
Can I publish on Google Play Books and KDP together?
Yes, unless your eBook is enrolled in KDP Select, which requires eBook exclusivity on Amazon.
Do I need an ISBN for Google Play Books?
Not always, because Google can assign an identifier. Many authors still use their own ISBN for consistency across stores.
Which countries can I sell in?
You choose territories in Partner Center, and Google’s own list of supported countries can change. We check it when we set up your book.
Can I price differently in each country?
Yes. Google lets you set country-specific prices, and we plan them with you.
Is Google Play Books good for audiobooks?
It can be one channel among several. Our audiobook distribution services plan the wider route.
Does the store show a sample?
Yes. You can set a preview so readers can try your book, and we choose a sample that ends at a natural point.
Do I keep my rights?
Yes. You keep your rights and give the store permission to sell your book under its terms.
Can you move my book from an aggregator to direct?
Yes. We plan the change so prices and reviews stay consistent and you do not publish duplicates.
